Goniometer

The Goniometer displays a Lissajous figure to represent the difference between two audio inputs

In the standard configuration, the value at the x axis is the value of Source X, and the value at the y axis is the value of Source Y. Alternate layout configurations transform the axes to make helpful and more interesting displays that can give insights to a stereo signal's phase coherence, stereo "soundfield", level, and more.

Crosshairs

Click and drag in the meter to display location details.
  • The circle is the level in decibels.
  • The straight line is the angle from the center of the stereo field.
Hold down option while dragging to see the difference between where the cursor was clicked and the current position

General

  1. Select the method to use to display the values
    • X-Y: The x-axis is the value of source X, the y-axis is the value of source Y
    • Vector: The X-Y display rotated 45° to appear more readable
    • Stereo: The signal in a 180° "stereo field", with out-of-phase material tending toward the side edges and mono material in the center.
    • Stereo (Mirrored): The Stereo layout with a mirror of the display on the bottom half of the meter.
    • Stereo Field: Similar to the stereo mode, but the origin is from the edge of the field instead of the center. This display can visually simulate a listening experience.
